Magic Locomotives de Joke de Jager
Travel with me to Bolivia . . . In Bolivia I had the great opportunity to photograph these beautiful vintage locomotives at the train cemetery in Pulacayo. Pulacayo is a mining town that holds the ruins of the 19th century silver mine of Huanchaca. It was in Pulacayo that the first locomotive of Bolivia started to work! Due to its important mineral exploitation, transport rapidly became a priority and the advanced technology this locomotive represented at that period was a real revolution in the world of mineral extraction. For the history, this was a locomotive Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid attacked by richness it was transporting. Today, in the locomotive’s cemetery, this is the same locomotive one can touch and see the bullet holes…. Very impressive . . . !
