Burano Island de Stefano Orazzini
Burano is a small island in the lagoon of Venice in Italy. It is famous for the craftsmanship of lace and its colorful houses.
It can be reached from Venice in under an hour by Vaporetto or with a tour dedicated to the lagoon islands, usually along with Murano and Torcello.
Legend has it that the inhabitants of Burano, especially the fishermen, when they returned from the sea, began to color their houses with bright colors to be able to recognize them on foggy days.
For a photographer, walking through the streets and the numerous wooden bridges that cross the small canals is a joy for the eyes.
At every corner of Burano, there is an opportunity to take a fascinating photo; we can photograph the groups of colored houses and their reflection in the canals, the small fishing boats moored in front of their homes, the ladies who work the lace, the bright and colorful windows embellished with fresh flowers to compose a minimalist image and the entrance doors protected from the sun by original multi colored curtains.
Another cheerful curiosity of Burano is the inclined bell tower of the Church of San Martino, visible from a good part of the island; it is often the protagonist in the background of many images of Burano.
So, be careful not to adjust the horizon of your photos with the bell tower. You will end up with a crooked photograph! :)
